I have been looking to purchase a Mac Laptop. Is this a good idea if I want to use it to program? Keep in mind, I am a newbie. XP

No, Mac's are really bad in terms of compatibility. A lot of apps don't work on them. Windows or Linux is what you want for programming, plus Windows computers are much cheaper.

I think Mac are better, well they are so nice and good and also you can install Windows on them, unlike Windows you cant install Mac OS on it.

I've got iMac and im running Windows 8 on it and feeling good hehaho;

macs are awesome for a developer. (I am using one right now) you can dual boot with Windows and also with about 750 Gigs, the space of more than enough for a newbie!!

I suggest you keep programming on a PC.

Macs are great, but not so much for App development. The biggest issue is the compatibility and the market share. Plus, for things like programming, you won't need to cough up so much money if you're buying a PC.

However, you don't need to be limited to Windows, you could try out developing apps for Linux, too.

Why?

If you want a mac, get a hackintosh... don't waste so much cash :)
